Wall Mounted Ballet Bars – What Other People Are Not

Wall Mounted Ballet Bars – What Other People Are Not Telling You When Choosing These Bars

Wall mounted ballet bars are also called Barres. These are essentially instruments that the dancers use to check their balance and slide their legs along it. As it is an instrument used to check balance, stability of these bars is important. If the bars wobble, then the ballet dancers will feel unstable and they may never be able to gauge their balance. The advantages of having a stable Barre is evident as it helps the ballet dancers to improve their stability. It is an important piece of equipment for the ballet teachers.

One of the important factors that contribute to the quality of the Barres is the quality of wood that is used to make it. Some of the best ballet schools use Oak which is quite sturdy and hence is a suitable material to make these barres. The Barres have to be mounted in a special way to make it last for a long time.

As there is continuous pushing against the barres, the screws and the brackets tend to loosen. If you put a separate piece of wood along the wall at barre level, and attach the brackets to this strip then the barre becomes strong and stable and thus can enjoy a longer lifespan. If the Barres are coated with Polyurethane, then resanding and refinishing are needed very rarely. The Barres have to be of excellent quality otherwise the dancer will not find the environment appealing.

The Barred can be installed at either a fixed height or be made adjustable so that it can be varied from child height to adult height and thus useful for different types of classes. Barres are best made of wood as they are much warmer to touch than the metallic bars.

An unpolished Barre is much easier to maintain as they can be resanded and refinished easily once they get splinters. Wall Barres are extremely strong which gives them an advantage over the portable bars and thus dancers tend to prefer the wall Barres.
